Intellectual Property Disclosures

Kairo is built on a combination of original work by Scholaris Private Limited and public research frameworks developed by others. This page acknowledges our intellectual debts and the software we use.
Research frameworks
Holland's RIASEC framework
Originally developed by John L. Holland starting in 1959. Kairo's vocational interest dimension (D1) uses the six-letter structure from Holland's Self-Directed Search. We use the framework for commercial educational assessment in accordance with standard academic practice.
Big Five personality framework
Developed across multiple decades by researchers including Lewis Goldberg, Paul Costa, and Robert McCrae. Kairo's personality dimension (D3) uses the five-factor model. Our specific item bank is proprietary to Scholaris.
Career Construction Theory
Developed by Mark Savickas. Kairo's Career Adaptability dimension (D5) draws on the Career Adaptabilities Scale framework (concern, control, curiosity, confidence).
Proactive Personality
Bateman and Crant (1993). Kairo's Proactive Personality measure (part of D7) is adapted from their proactive personality scale.
Brief Calling Scale
Dik and Duffy (2009). Kairo's Brief Calling Scale measurement (part of D7) is adapted from their work on calling and vocation.
Paradata in assessment
The methodology of analysing response patterns (timing, changes, hesitation) as psychometric data draws on research in survey methodology and computer-adaptive testing.
Situational Judgment Tests
The SJT format for Dimension 8 follows established methodology in work psychology. Our specific scenarios are original to Kairo, calibrated for Indian student contexts.
