Terms of Service
Last updated: 1 July 2026
Effective date: These Terms of Service take effect on 1 July 2026 and apply to all use of Kairo from that date. They replace all prior versions of the Terms. If you registered or purchased before this date, these Terms apply to your continued use of Kairo from the effective date.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Scholaris Private Limited ("Scholaris", "we", "us", or "our") and govern your access to and use of Kairo, a paid online career-discovery and career-assessment product available at kairo.scholaris.co.in and through related pages, features, and communications (together, the "Service").
Please read these Terms carefully. They include important provisions about eligibility and consent for minors, what Kairo is and is not, payment and refunds, intellectual property, disclaimers, a limitation of our liability, and a binding arbitration clause that affects how disputes are resolved. By creating an account, completing registration, making a payment, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Grievance Redressal page, each of which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
Kairo is operated by Scholaris Private Limited, a company incorporated in India (formerly named Chasmis Solutions Private Limited until 15 September 2025).
- Corporate Identity Number (CIN): U85500MH2018PTC318097
- Registered office: F-204 Meenakshi Chambers, Bhayander East, Thane 401105, Maharashtra, India
- Email: support@scholaris.co.in
For any questions about these Terms, or to raise a concern, contact us using the details in Section 24 (Contact) or our Grievance Redressal page.
2. Definitions
In these Terms:
- "You" / "your" / "User" means the individual using the Service. Where the User is a minor (aged 14–17), "you" also includes the parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on the minor's behalf, except where the context clearly refers only to the minor.
- "Account" means the registration record you create to access the Service.
- "Assessment" means Kairo's 8-dimension psychometric career-discovery questionnaire.
- "Report" means the personalised, AI-assisted output Kairo generates for you, including any Parent PDF.
- "Chatbot" means the optional AI assistant available to Plus tier users.
- "Content" means all materials forming part of the Service, including assessment items, scoring logic, report templates, text, design, software, and trademarks.
- "Minor" means a person under 18 years of age.
- "Parent" means a parent or lawful guardian of a Minor.
3. What Kairo is — and what it is not
Kairo is an educational self-discovery and career-orientation tool. It provides a personalised, AI-assisted Report based on your responses to an 8-dimension assessment covering interests, aptitude, personality, values, career adaptability, context, proactivity, and situational judgement. Kairo is designed to help students aged roughly 14–25 explore options, reflect on their strengths and preferences, and start better-informed conversations about their studies and careers.
Kairo is intended for guidance and exploration only. Your Report reflects patterns in the answers you give and should be treated as one input among many in your decision-making, alongside your own judgement and conversations with parents, teachers, mentors, and qualified professionals.
Kairo is NOT, and does not claim to be:
- a medical, psychiatric, clinical, or psychological diagnostic service, test, or device;
- a mental-health assessment, therapy, treatment, or counselling service of any kind;
- a substitute for professional career counselling, or for medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice;
- a guarantee or prediction of any admission, scholarship, examination result, course placement, job, internship, salary, promotion, or career outcome;
- a substitute for conversations with teachers, parents, guardians, mentors, or qualified professionals.
We make no representation, warranty, or guarantee of any specific or successful outcome arising from your use of Kairo or reliance on your Report. Career and life decisions are yours to make.
Nothing in the Service is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition within the meaning of the Mental Healthcare Act 2017 or any other law. If the Service surfaces difficult feelings, or if you need support, please see our Mental Health Resources page, and in an emergency call 112.
4. Eligibility, minors, and parental/guardian consent
The Service is intended for residents of India. By using the Service, you confirm that the information you provide is true and that you meet the eligibility requirements below.
4.1 Users aged 18 and over
If you are 18 years of age or older, you may register for and use the Service, and enter into these Terms, on your own behalf.
4.2 Users aged 14 to 17 (Minors)
If you are between 14 and 17 years of age, you may use the Service only if a Parent:
- reads and accepts these Terms on your behalf and consents to your use of the Service; and
- provides verifiable consent to the processing of your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act).
We require this consent step before a Minor's assessment proceeds. Where consent is required and not validly provided, we may decline or discontinue the Service. A Parent who accepts these Terms on a Minor's behalf agrees to be bound by them and is responsible for the Minor's use of the Service, including any payment.
4.3 Users under 14
The Service is not intended for, and may not be used by, anyone under 14 years of age.
4.4 Upper age range
Registration is currently accepted for ages 14 through 65. This reflects the population the assessment is validated and tested for today; it is not a judgement about anyone outside that range.
4.5 Honest information
You must not misrepresent your age or identity, or register on behalf of another person without authority. We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe were created using false information or in breach of these eligibility rules.
4.5 Recommendation for Minors
If you are a Minor, we strongly recommend you discuss your Report with a Parent, teacher, or trusted adult before making any significant decision based on it.
5. Account registration and verification
To use the Service, you register and provide certain information, which currently includes your name, email address, phone number, age or date of birth, city, and current stage of education.
- Email verification. We verify your email address using a 6-digit one-time passcode (OTP) sent to the email you provide. You are responsible for entering a valid email address you control.
- Phone number. We collect your phone number for account, support, and communication purposes. At present, the phone number is not verified by SMS OTP. SMS-based verification is planned for a future release once telecom regulatory (DLT) registration is approved; until then, you remain responsible for the accuracy of the phone number you provide.
- Account security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and access (including OTPs) confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@scholaris.co.in if you suspect unauthorised use.
How we handle the information you provide is described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Electronic acceptance of these Terms
By clicking "I agree" (or a similar control), creating an account, completing registration, making a payment, or otherwise using the Service, you electronically accept these Terms and any policies incorporated by reference. You agree that this electronic acceptance has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature and constitutes a valid and binding agreement under the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Indian Contract Act 1872. Where a Minor uses the Service, the accepting Parent provides this acceptance on the Minor's behalf.
7. The assessment, your Report, and AI-generated content
7.1 The assessment
The Service presents an 8-dimension assessment. To produce a meaningful Report, you should answer honestly and complete the assessment in good faith. The Service may also record interaction patterns such as response times and answer changes (paradata) as part of the assessment methodology, as described in our Privacy Policy and IP Disclosures.
7.2 Your Report
After you complete the assessment and pay, the Service generates your personalised Report. Depending on your tier, this may include a main report, a Parent PDF, and access to additional features.
7.3 AI-generated content
The Service uses artificial intelligence, including services provided by Anthropic (Claude), to generate parts of your Report and to power the Chatbot. AI-generated content is subject to automated safety filtering, but AI systems can produce content that is inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected. You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated content is provided for guidance and reflection only and is not professional advice;
- you should not rely solely on AI-generated content for any important decision; and
- you should verify anything important with a qualified human professional.
8. The Chatbot
For Plus tier users, the Chatbot is available for 30 days from the date of Plus purchase, subject to a lifetime allowance of 50,000 tokens (approximately 100 exchanges), after which access ends.
The Chatbot is intended only for discussing your specific Kairo Report. It is not a general-knowledge assistant, homework helper, or creative-writing tool, and it is not a substitute for professional counselling or support.
For everyone's safety, if a message to the Chatbot triggers our crisis-detection system, the Service will display helpline resources and may log the conversation for safety review. See our Mental Health Resources page. By using the Chatbot you consent to this safety processing.
9. Retake
Plus tier users receive one free retake of the assessment, valid between 6 and 24 months from the date of Plus purchase. After the retake window expires, or once the free retake has been used, a new Plus tier purchase is required to reassess.
10. Pricing, taxes, and payment
10.1 Tiers and prices
Kairo is offered in two tiers: Base at ₹999 and Plus at ₹1,499. Prices are stated in Indian Rupees and are inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the applicable rate (currently 18%). We may change our prices from time to time; the price shown to you at the time of purchase is the price that applies to that purchase.
10.2 Payment processing
All payments are processed through Razorpay, a payment provider licensed in India. By paying, you agree to Razorpay's applicable terms. We do not store your full card or bank details on our servers. Your payment is authorised and captured through Razorpay's secure systems.
10.3 Promotions and upgrades
We may from time to time offer discounts, coupons, or promotional pricing, which may have their own conditions. Where you purchase Base, you may be able to upgrade to Plus within a limited window for a stated differential, as described in our Refund Policy.
10.4 Authority to pay
By making a payment you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method. Where a Minor uses the Service, payment must be made or authorised by the accepting Parent.
11. Refunds
Kairo is a paid digital service. Refunds are governed by our separate Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary, and without limiting that policy, we refund in three situations:
- your Report was not generated within 24 hours of payment;
- you can show serious errors in the Report we produced — factual mistakes, internally contradictory sections, or results that do not correspond to the answers you gave; or
- you can show we did not deliver what we promised.
Refunds are generally not available where you simply changed your mind, disagree with a correct Report's results, or made a coupon/promotional purchase you now want repriced — see What is not a refund case for the full list. Specific timelines, conditions, and exclusions are set out in the Refund Policy, which controls in the event of any inconsistency with this summary.
Please contact us first about any genuine issue. If you initiate a chargeback with your bank or card provider instead of contacting us, we may treat this as set out in the Refund Policy, which may include account suspension and notification to Razorpay.
Nothing in these Terms or the Refund Policy limits any non-excludable rights you may have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act 2019.
12. Intellectual property and licence to your Report
12.1 Our intellectual property
All Content in the Service is owned by, or licensed to, Scholaris and is protected by intellectual-property laws. This includes, without limitation, the Kairo brand, name, logo, and trademark; the assessment design and items; the scoring and weighting methodology; the 16-archetype structure and names; the Course Fit and Stream Fit catalogues and scoring; the Profile Clarity index; the Personal Style scales; the Under Pressure derailer patterns; the Kairos Timing framework; the Indian-context career catalogue; the report and Parent-PDF templates and tone framework; and all UI designs, copy, illustrations, and software. A fuller description of what is original to Scholaris, and acknowledgements of third-party research frameworks (such as Holland's RIASEC, the Big Five, and Career Construction Theory) and software, appears on our IP Disclosures page. Those frameworks remain the intellectual property of their original authors.
12.2 Your licence to your own Report
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to access, download, print, and use your own Report and Parent PDF for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may share your Report with parents, mentors, counsellors, teachers, or others you choose, for the purpose of discussing your education and career.
12.3 Restrictions
You may not, and may not permit others to:
- resell, rent, license, or commercially distribute your Report, any other person's Report, or any Content;
- republish, redistribute, or display Content commercially;
- use Kairo Reports or Content to develop, train, or improve any competing product, model, or assessment;
- copy, scrape, extract, reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the assessment items, scoring logic, or methodology; or
- remove, obscure, or alter any Kairo watermark, attribution, or the
kairo.scholaris.co.inURL on shared content (for example, social cards).
We reserve all rights not expressly granted to you.
13. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- submit false, misleading, or another person's information during registration or the assessment;
- attempt to manipulate or game the assessment to engineer a particular result;
- attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, copy, or reproduce the Kairo scoring logic, items, or methodology;
- probe, scan, disrupt, overload, or otherwise attempt to compromise the security or integrity of the Service or its infrastructure;
- use the Chatbot for purposes outside discussing your Report (for example, general knowledge, homework, or creative writing);
- impersonate any person, including a Minor, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person;
- use the Service for any unlawful, infringing, harmful, or fraudulent purpose, or to upload unlawful or harmful content;
- use any robot, scraper, or automated means to access the Service except as we expressly permit; or
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or any Content.
We may investigate suspected breaches and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating access and reporting unlawful activity to the authorities.
14. Intermediary status and grievance redressal
To the extent the Service involves transmission, storage, or hosting of any user-provided information, Scholaris acts as an intermediary under the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021, and observes the applicable due-diligence requirements.
We have appointed a Grievance Officer in accordance with those Rules and applicable law:
- Grievance Officer (and Data Protection Officer): Bharat Bohra
- Alternate contact: Narendra Purohit
- Email: support@scholaris.co.in
- Phone: +91 9833861909
- Address: F-204 Meenakshi Chambers, Bhayander East, Thane 401105, Maharashtra, India
The Grievance Officer will acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours of receipt and will resolve it as expeditiously as possible, and in any event within the timelines required by applicable law — within 15 days of receipt for matters governed by the IT Rules 2021, and otherwise as set out on our Grievance Redressal page. Grievances may be filed in English or Hindi. Full details of how to file a grievance, the escalation path (including, where relevant, the Data Protection Board of India and consumer forums), and our timelines are on the Grievance Redressal page.
15. Privacy and international data transfers
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data, the legal bases on which we rely, your rights under the DPDP Act (including access, correction, erasure, and nomination), how we handle the personal data of Minors, and how to contact our Data Protection Officer.
Some of our sub-processors operate or store data outside India. We use service providers including Cloudflare (hosting and edge compute), Supabase (database hosting), Anthropic (AI report generation and Chatbot), Resend (email), Razorpay (payments), and, in future, MSG91 (SMS). Where personal data is transferred or processed outside India, we do so in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy, which you should read together with these Terms. By using the Service you acknowledge such processing and transfers as described there.
16. Service availability, changes to the Service, and "as is" basis
We aim to keep the Service available and working well, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available. Scheduled maintenance, unforeseen outages, and disruptions to third-party services (including those of our sub-processors) may temporarily affect availability.
We may, at our discretion, modify, suspend, add to, or discontinue all or part of the Service, including features, tiers, or pricing, at any time. Where a change materially and adversely affects a feature you have already paid for, we will act reasonably and consistently with our Refund Policy and applicable consumer law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service, the assessment, and the Report are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. This does not exclude any warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
17. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so under applicable Indian law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Subject to the paragraph above, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- (a) Cap on liability. Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms — whether in contract, tort (including negligence), under statute, or otherwise — is limited to the total amount of fees you actually paid to us for the Service in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Where you have not paid us any fees, our total aggregate liability is limited to ₹10,000 (Rupees ten thousand).
- (b) Excluded losses. We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of opportunity, loss of profits, loss of expected savings, loss of goodwill, or loss of data (except to the extent such loss results directly from our breach and cannot lawfully be excluded), even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss.
- (c) Outcomes and decisions. Because Kairo is a guidance and self-discovery tool only (see Section 3), we are not liable for any admission, examination, scholarship, employment, salary, financial, or other outcome, or for any decision you, a Parent, or any other person makes based on a Report, the Chatbot, or other AI-generated content.
- (d) Family and third-party matters. We are not liable for disagreements, disputes, or distress arising between you and your family, school, or others in connection with discussing a Report.
- (e) Third-party services and force majeure. We are not liable for failures, delays, or losses caused by third-party services or by events beyond our reasonable control (see Section 20).
You agree that the allocation of risk in this Section is a reasonable and essential basis of the bargain between us, reflecting the price of the Service.
18. Indemnity by you
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Scholaris and its directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- your misuse of the Service or breach of these Terms or any incorporated policy;
- your violation of any law or of any third party's rights (including intellectual-property or privacy rights); or
- false or misleading information you provide, including any misrepresentation of age, identity, or consent.
Where the User is a Minor, the accepting Parent provides this indemnity in respect of the Minor's use.
19. Suspension and termination
19.1 By you
You may stop using the Service at any time and may request deletion of your account and data as described in our Privacy Policy. Closing your account does not entitle you to a refund except as provided in our Refund Policy.
19.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms (including the acceptable-use rules), that your use poses a security, legal, or safety risk, that you have provided false information, or that suspension or termination is required by law. Where practicable and lawful, we will give you notice and an opportunity to address the issue.
19.3 Effect of termination
On termination, your licence to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive — including Sections 12 (IP), 13 (acceptable use, as to past conduct), 15 (privacy), 17 (limitation of liability), 18 (indemnity), 21 (dispute resolution), 22 (governing law), and 23 (general) — survive termination. Termination does not affect rights or liabilities accrued before it.
20. Force majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms to the extent caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, fire, flood, epidemic or pandemic, war, civil unrest, terrorism, strikes, governmental action or regulation, failure of telecommunications or internet services, power failures, or failures or disruptions of third-party service providers or sub-processors.
21. Dispute resolution and arbitration
21.1 Talk to us first
Most concerns can be resolved quickly. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to first raise the matter with our Grievance Officer (see Section 14 and the Grievance Redressal page) and to allow at least 30 days for good-faith resolution.
21.2 Arbitration
If a dispute is not resolved within that period, any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service (including its existence, validity, interpretation, breach, or termination) will be referred to and finally resolved by binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996, as amended.
- The arbitration will be conducted by a sole arbitrator appointed in accordance with that Act.
- The seat and venue of arbitration is Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
- The language of the arbitration is English.
- The arbitral award is final and binding on the parties.
21.3 Court support and injunctive relief
Nothing in this Section prevents either party from seeking urgent interim or injunctive relief from a competent court, or pursuing any remedy that cannot, as a matter of law, be referred to arbitration. This Section does not affect any non-excludable right you may have to approach a consumer forum under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 or any statutory authority.
22. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or relating to them or the Service (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Subject to the arbitration provisions in Section 21, the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter not subject to arbitration.
23. General
- 23.1 Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and notify registered users by email or in-product notice. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, you must stop using the Service.
- 23.2 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Grievance Redressal page, Mental Health Resources page, and IP Disclosures page, constitute the entire agreement between you and Scholaris regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings on that subject.
- 23.3 Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or if it cannot be so modified, severed, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
- 23.4 Waiver. Our failure or delay in enforcing any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that or any other provision, and no single or partial exercise of any right precludes any further exercise of it.
- 23.5 Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations (for example, in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets) without your consent, provided your rights under these Terms are not materially diminished.
- 23.6 No third-party beneficiaries. Except for the Scholaris parties named in Section 18 (indemnity), these Terms do not create any rights enforceable by any person who is not a party to them.
- 23.7 Relationship. Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, agency, employment, or joint-venture relationship between you and Scholaris.
- 23.8 Notices. We may give you notices by email to your registered address, by in-product message, or by posting on the Service. You may give us notice using the contact details in Section 24.
- 23.9 Language. These Terms are published in English. Where we provide a translation, the English version prevails in the event of any conflict.
- 23.10 Headings. Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
