Mental Health Resources

Taking a career assessment can surface feelings that are hard to process. If the report has surfaced something difficult — family pressure, anxiety about the future, feelings of inadequacy, or any other emotional weight — you are not alone, and help exists.

This page lists helplines and resources. Kairo is not a substitute for professional mental health care.

If you are in immediate danger

If you or someone you are with is in a medical or safety emergency, call 112 — India's national emergency number — or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Academic stress and career pressure

If your stress is specifically about academic pressure, entrance exam anxiety, or career decisions, try these steps first:

  1. Talk to someone you trust first. A teacher, a cousin, a close friend, or a mentor — not the person who is most invested in the decision.
  2. A professional career counsellor is different from your Kairo report. A one-hour conversation with a licensed counsellor can complement what you read here.
  3. Your report is one input, not the final answer. Share it with someone who knows you well and can help you think it through.
  4. Break the decision into smaller steps. You do not need to decide a 20-year career today. Pick the next stream, course, or subject — the one that keeps the most doors open.

If you are thinking about self-harm or suicide

Please call one of these numbers immediately. You do not need to explain anything before you are ready.

  • Vandrevala Foundation: 1860-2662-345 — 24×7
  • iCall: 9152987821 — Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 10 PM
  • Sneha India: 044-24640050 — 24×7
  • AASRA: 9820466726 or 022-27546669 — 24×7

If you are with someone who is in immediate danger, stay with them and call 112.

When to seek professional help

Any of these signs suggests it's time to talk to a professional:

  • Persistent sadness or hopelessness for more than two weeks
  • Difficulty eating or sleeping
  • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Feeling that life isn't worth living
  • Panic attacks or overwhelming anxiety
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or others

Treatment works. Early help works faster.
